Submissions are now closed for the Sandbox Design Competition and honestly I’m exhausted.
I didn’t sleep very well last night with thought of finishing my entry and other projects floating through my mind. However, the competition was a great learning experience for someone who only touched CSS for the first time 8 months ago. I have been working on my design for the competition in spurts for the last month.
The bad news, I have already found one stupid, rookie mistake I made. I can only replicate the issue in IE and Safari. So, it’s only 50% of a ridiculous screw up. I am not too pleased with the outcome, but I will chalk this one up to lack of knowledge and see where I need to improve.
The good news, the WordPress community will have a few more excellent themes to play with.
I have learned the Sandbox WordPress Theme is much more than just another theme. The Sandbox is an application in itself, similar to WordPress. The dynamically generated classes make the design so flexible that you can skin any part of it. Scott Wallick and Andy have created an amazing contribution to the WordPress community.
I will fix the mistake I mentioned above and release the Sandbox design in the next couple of days. I need to allow my eyes to adjust to the real-world for a little while now.
In the meantime, check out all of the participants, their sites and their amazing designs. I can’t wait to see the results. I am especially looking forward to see the designs from Robert and Ian.
Here’s a small screenshot of Moo-Point to hold you over until I post the download and demo.
Good Luck to everyone that entered.
Update: Robert has released Upstart Blogger Takimata. Upstart Blogger Takimata uses a layout and structure that is fresh. I haven’t seen anything like it. Check it out!
