Matt Brett Redesigns

Matt Brett just launched a new design. I really like the way comments are styled. The site has one of the best implementations of threaded replies that I have seen.

Also, check out the icon next to user’s names denoting that they are subscribed to the post’s comments via email. A cool little detail that I haven’t ever thought of using with WordPress and the Subscribe to Comments plugin.

Overall a very nicely designed personal site!

Panic Coda 1.5

Panic released version 1.5 of one of my favorite web developement and design tools today, Coda.

Some major changes in this release included:

  • It is now possible to do a multi-file find and replace across local files. You can choose to search all open files, all files in a particular folder, or all files in your current Site.
  • Coda 1.5 provides built in support (checkout, commit, revert, update, and rollback) for Subversion operations.
  • This release includes improved organization of Clips. Clips can also now be imported and exported. Using the new codaclips: URL handler allows you to create a web page link that adds a clip to Coda. Sam Brown has already integrated this feature into Coda Clips
  • Users can also create custom reference books in Coda 1.5.

Read more about the updates on Steven Frank’s site or in the official release notes.

Five Clean, Minimalist Themes for WordPress - Op111.net

Moo-Point is mentioned and analyzed.

I think that the best two words to describe this theme by Will Wilkins are: eminent readability — I was impressed the first time I saw Moo Point, and I remain impressed.

Demetris also goes into why text-transform:uppercase in CSS can cause issues in certain languages.

Habari Project, Binary Bonsai, and Sillyness, Werd - Redesigns

The Habari Project has redesigned their site since the release of Habari 0.5. I like it much better than the old design.

Micheal Heilemann, a long time user, designer and developer of WordPress themes (K2, Kubrick) and plugins, has converted Binary Bonsai to Habari with a minimal design and nice typography.

Chris J Davis, another developer/designer who has worked with WordPress in the past (K2, Kubrick, WicketPixie), has also redesigned his Habari driven site. I love the infinite scrolling/non-paged home page; it dynamically loads older content as you scroll to the bottom!

Sushi & Robots

I love the layout and typography in Jina Bolton’s new personal site - Sushi & Robots. Be sure to check out the journal.
