You heard it right. Upstart Blogger is now for sale. The revered Robert Ellis has decided to sell one of the sites that influenced me to begin blogging and designing WordPress themes.
My dream buyer would be an Upstart Blogger who is also a web designer. The site has produced a solid income over the past year and offers an excellent opportunity for the right person—an avid blogger or theme developer—to make a substantial income from an established following.
Robert and Upstart Blogger have been a big inspiration to my designs and use of WordPress. Posts like Why DreamHost Sucks, 8 MySQL Backup Strategies for WordPress Bloggers (And Others), and Tools for Capturing Design Inspiration made me and many others a loyal readers of the site. My first WordPress theme IAMWW w2 was developed from Robert’s Upstart Blogger Minim.
Upstart Blogger would be a great investment for someone with the time and passion to follow in Robert’s footsteps.
While I will miss Robert blogging on Upstart Blogger, I wish him the best of luck. Luckily Robert plans to continue blogging and possibly developing more themes on Futurosity.

…and the Video Tutorial at Futurosity Altera theme page.
Hope you’ll purchase it Will (from Robert).
forrestRain - I think it would be fun, I just don’t have the time or resources at the moment. Thanks though
I think it’s too soon for him to sell it. Although affiliate commission is a big boost, upstartblogger.com is not yet a solid blog.
Also, he’s already directing his loyal readers to the new blog. That’s a turn off to interested buyers.
Thanks for your input SP. Both are valid points that Robert may have already considered. I just don’t think he has the time to maintain the site and would rather sell it now before visitors drop off due to the lack on new content.
I think he should’ve set BIN at 5x or 6x the monthly revenue instead of the usual 10x or 12x and also offer to guest-post for a short period after the transfer.
On the other hand, I understand where he’s coming from. Building up a long list of loyal readers is a hard thing to do.
