The different desktop environment flavors of Ubuntu (Kubuntu, Xubuntu, and Edubuntu) have also been updated to the 7.04 release.

I have played with Ubunutu with a dual-boot on my laptop. Since I love my iMac, I rarely use Linux or Windows. However, Ubuntu is one of the best distros I have played around with and I went through a phase where I tried them all.

I have only had two issues with Ubuntu.

  1. Getting the BroadComm wireless card to work correctly. - I was able to resolve this fairly quickly with a visit to the excellent Ubuntu forums.
  2. Getting the laptop to support an external LCD’s resolution in a dual-monitor set-up. I didn’t really need this, so I never fixed it.

The community support behind Ubuntu is amazing and the users are extremely loyal to the distrobution.
