Panic Releases Coda 1.0 - Quick First Thoughts

Coda from Panic is meant to be an all-in-one application for your web development needs. It is a text editor, a CSS editor, terminal access, access to documenation (Books), and Transmit (an awesome FTP Client for Mac) all rolled into one app.

I downloaded and installed the trial today. My first impression… If I were buying the application on looks alone, I would have dropped $79.00 today. It is a beautiful application.

However, I do not see me replacing my current work flow any time soon. I have grown to enjoy working in TextMate. I use MAMP to do most of my initial development and testing locally. Therefore, I do not see the point in having my FTP client open also. Also, I prefer CSSEdit to the built-in Coda CSS tool.

I am sure if I did not already have certain apps that I prefer to work in Coda would be an excellent starting application. This would be great for someone looking to get away from drag-and-drop website builders like iWeb to begin building their own websites.
